Motorcycle Importing from Japan
We specialise in importing motorcycles directly from Japan to Melbourne, with a proven track record across retail and commercial clients. We handle everything from auction to delivery, at fair and transparent prices.
Bikes We Bring In
Whether you're chasing a classic two-stroke, a clean factory road bike, or a full race machine - if it's in Japan, we can get it to Australia.
25+ Year Old Road Bikes
Any motorcycle 25 years or older from its date of manufacture. As of 2026, that means bikes built in 2001 or earlier - CB400s, ZXRs, GSX-Rs, RGVs, and all the golden-era machines.
Off-Road & Race-Only
Dirt bikes, motocross machines, and race-only motorcycles not intended for road registration can be imported regardless of age.
Parts & Accessories
Spare parts, riding gear, and accessories can be included in the same container shipment. Everything gets documented and cleared together.
Rules and Regulations
Before importing a motorcycle from Japan, there are a few things that you need to be aware of:
The 25-Year Rule
Australia's concessional import scheme allows motorcycles 25 years or older to bypass modern compliance standards. As of 2026, that's bikes manufactured in 2001 or earlier. Anything newer is significantly harder and more expensive to bring in - we recommend staying within this window.
Vehicle Import Approval (VIA)
Every motorcycle needs a VIA from the Department of Infrastructure before it can enter Australia. We apply for this while the bike is still in Japan so there are no delays at the border.
Biosecurity & Quarantine
All imported vehicles must be free from soil, plant material, and contaminants. We clean every bike at our Japan warehouse to biosecurity standards before shipping.
Asbestos
Australia has zero tolerance for asbestos. Older bikes with original brake pads or gaskets may need components replaced before they can clear customs. An asbestos-free declaration or test certificate is required.
No Parts-to-Registration
Motorcycles imported as disassembled parts cannot be put back together and registered for road use in Australia. If you want a road-registrable bike, it must come in as a complete vehicle.
Our Process
From finding your bike in Japan to riding it in Australia - here's how it works. You can leave the entire process to us.
Find Your Bike
Browse the major Japanese auction and dealer sites yourself - Yahoo Auctions, GooBike, Bike Bros, and more. Found a listing you like? Send it through and we'll take it from there. Alternatively, tell us what you're after and we'll source it from our network in Japan. We know where to look and what to avoid.
Purchase & Transport to Warehouse
Once the right bike is found, we handle the purchase and arrange inland transport to our warehouse in Aichi, Japan. We keep you updated throughout - nothing happens without your go-ahead.
Export Preparation & VIA
At our warehouse, we thoroughly clean the bike to meet Australia's strict biosecurity requirements. We also apply for your Vehicle Import Approval through the ROVER system so it's ready before the bike hits Australian waters. No delays at the border.
Container Shipping & Clearance
Your bike is securely loaded into a shipping container and sent to Melbourne. Transit typically takes 2-4 weeks. Once arrived, it goes through Australian Border Force customs and Department of Agriculture biosecurity checks. We manage the paperwork end to end.
Pickup, Delivery, or Engineering
Once cleared, you can collect the bike from our Melbourne facility. Interstate? No problem - we can arrange Australia-wide shipping direct to your door. Want it road-ready? We can organise engineering and compliance work to get it registered in your state.
Our Fees
Simple, upfront pricing. Your invoice covers everything, no hidden costs.
Your invoice from us is all-inclusive. The price you pay covers the bike, our fees, shipping, GST, and all associated costs. The only additional costs are compliance engineering and state registration, which are handled separately if required.
Websites to Browse
Here are the best websites to browse Japanese motorcycles.
Found something you like? Send us the listing and we'll take it from there.
Most of these sites are in Japanese - don't worry, just send us a link to any listing and we'll handle translation and condition checks.
FAQ
How long does the process take?
Typically 8-12 weeks from purchase to delivery. This includes inland transport in Japan, export prep, VIA processing (~20 business days), sea freight (4-6 weeks), and customs clearance.
Can I import a bike newer than 25 years?
It's possible under certain schemes but significantly more complex and costly. We recommend staying with bikes manufactured in 2001 or earlier. Off-road and race-only bikes are exempt from the age rule.
Can you source a bike for me?
Absolutely. Tell us the make, model, and budget, and we'll search the auctions and dealer networks in Japan. We do basic checks before purchasing to make sure the bike is worth importing.
Can I send parts in the same container?
Yes. Spare parts, riding gear, and accessories can be included in the same shipment, as long as everything is documented and meets quarantine requirements.
Do you handle engineering?
Yes. Once the bike clears customs, we can organise compliance engineering and paperwork to get it road-registered in your state. Requirements vary by state.
I'm interstate - can you deliver?
We offer Australia-wide shipping. Whether you're in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, or anywhere else - we'll get the bike to you.
